One of the most special parts of being a newborn photographer is getting to document the beginning of a family’s story with their newest little one. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a wonderful family in my home studio for both their maternity and newborn sessions.
We started with a maternity session as the family prepared to welcome their second baby. Mom looked beautiful as we captured a few quiet portraits of her celebrating this special season. Pregnancy is such a meaningful moment in a family's life, and maternity portraits allow moms to pause and remember what this time felt like.

​We also took family portraits with dad and big brother. Toddlers always bring a little energy and personality to a session, which makes the photos feel natural and full of life. Big brother loved being part of the moment—even if posing for too long wasn't quite his favorite activity.
A few weeks later, the family returned to my Little Elm studio with their brand new baby boy. We scheduled the newborn session when the baby was about two weeks old, which is often the perfect time for those sweet, sleepy newborn poses.

​Of course, the newest little one also had his own time in the spotlight. Newborn sessions focus on capturing those tiny details that change so quickly—the soft curls of hair, little fingers and toes, and the peaceful expressions babies have during those early weeks of life.
Sessions like these are a wonderful way for families to document the transition from pregnancy to welcoming their baby into the world. Being able to photograph both the maternity session and the newborn session tells a beautiful, complete story.
